Souljourning for Truth May 26, Port Ewen to Jugg's Tavern via Empire Trail to Poughkeepsie, NY across Skywalk

 Port Ewen to Jugg's Tavern

This is where Isabella was enslaved after she left the people she was sold to at five. The cruel people beat her because she didn't speak English. Dutch was her first language. Her father convinced the tavern owners to purchase his girl. The photo of the young Belle with the molasses jug is of the girl while enslaved here.

Many of these places where Truth was enslaved are private homes. Many are also unmarked.

I went by the SUNY New Paltz to meet a faculty person there. She took me on a short tour than dropped me here. I then started on the journey to Poughkeepsie by way of the Walkway over the Hudson River. These are the photos I took along the way.
